2020 Oscar Bait Watchlist: 25 Movies to See Before Awards Night

As a life-long movie buff, I make an effort every year to watch all the contenders for Awards season. While I find the awards shows themselves generally self-righteous and disconnected from reality, I love to watch the films getting buzz and see what all the fuss is about.

To make my list, I pull from a range of sources including odds-making websites, nominees for pre-Oscar awards, festival winners and box office cash cows. Indie to blockbuster, period piece to slapstick, we’ll give you a run down of the year in film. Reviews for each movie will be linked once they’re written up. I’ll also give out my own made-up

(Ed. Note: Due to the pandemic and closed theaters, the Oscars are a lot later this year, so several films will technically come out in 2021, but still count for the 2020 awards season.)
